Statement of Ethical Principles

We advocate economic development as one of the most effective ways of delivering positive development outcomes. Our focus is on infrastructure - it underpins the provision of essential services such as electricity, clean water, sanitation and modern communications. While Ridgway is a small commercial organization, we work toward the ideal of everyone having their basic needs met and we favor projects that are sustainable.

Our advisory assignments are conducted across a wide array of countries and cultures and we celebrate this diversity. We aim to provide the same high standard of work for all clients, with our work being performed by competent individuals who have qualifications and experience suited to the work being performed. We are committed to continuing professional development and maintain memberships with appropriate professional organizations.

We will form associations with other professional firms and individuals to augment our skill base where this adds value to a client. Ultimately, however, we avoid work for which we are not qualified and commit to telling our clients at the first opportunity if we believe this to be the case.

Honesty, integrity and fair-mindedness are some of our core values. We appreciate that our actions affect those for whom we work and we will always strive to work only in the best interests of our clients, avoiding conflicts. Ridgway promotes confidentiality in all of its dealings with clients.

We work for public and private clients. For public clients, we acknowledge that, by extension, we work to benefit the public. We also recognize the commercial needs of private clients. Where one of our assignments involves the public and private sectors in a partnership, we recognize the need to balance the legitimate interests of each group.

Ridgway is based in New Zealand, which Transparency International ranks as one of the world’s least corrupt countries. We are proud of the premium that New Zealand places on good governance practices and we are committed to these standards in New Zealand and internationally. We also acknowledge that among the client countries in which Ridgway works, there are diverse cultural customs regarding the giving and receiving of gifts. Other than for minor tokens, Ridgway avoids giving or accepting gifts or gratuities to prevent the appearance of impropriety.

Ridgway attaches importance to the observance of local laws by staff, as well as the avoidance of actions that areEithicsn abuse of the privileges enjoyed through their position. With project completion, Ridgway is accountable for its results. Ridgway remains a responsible corporate citizen, and actively works with those who share its ideals.
