Ministry of Health Drinking Water Affordability Study, New Zealand (April 2008 - July 2008)

Drinking water suppliers unable to recover the incremental costs associated with meeting mandatory drinking-water standards from their customers may seek relief under the Health (Drinking-Water) Amendment Act 2007 if the cost of meeting that increase is not affordable. Ridgway developed a working definition for the term “affordability” for the Ministry.
